Holcomb Hills Equestrian offers a relaxed, judgment-free environment for both horses and riders with no discipline requirements and no pressure to fit a mold. We’re proud to welcome riders of all ages and experience levels, from first-time horse owners to seasoned competitors. Our community includes gaming riders, dressage and English riders, endurance riders, OHSET kids, western dressage riders, and those who show—as well as those who simply ride for the joy of it. While we lean western, our barn culture is simple: if you respect your horse and others, you belong here. |

Meet the Owners

Kristan CrossKris has spent her life around horses and truly found her home with them. A barrel racer by passion and a trainer by experience, she is a deeply hands-on owner who takes the time to understand each horse’s individual personality and behavior. With a strong intuition for when something isn’t right, Kris is committed to the safety, well-being, and proper care of both horses and their owners. She is the backbone of Holcomb Hills Equestrian, ensuring the facility operates with integrity, care, and intention.

Melissa SchumannMelissa’s love for horses began in Pasadena, California, riding the legendary Griffith Park ponies as a child. Gifted riding lessons in 5th grade, she trained for seven years with Greg Shrake before expanding into English and jumping disciplines. She came to Holcomb Hills Equestrian as a boarder, drawn to a barn that values horse health, soundness, and thoughtful care—where she could ride her way, ask questions, and seek guidance without judgment.
Now, Melissa shares her passion with Kris, enjoying trail riding and western pleasure showing. A well-rounded rider, she has the confidence and skill to handle a variety of situations in and out of the saddle, always prioritizing the safety and well-being of both horses and riders. |
